Solid Glacial (Concentrated) Acetic Acid (CH3COOH) will melt to become a liquid at 16.6C. Acetic acid is a weak organic acid. Solid acetic acid has a higher density than its liquid form, therefore it sinks to the bottom when it meets the liquid Acetic Acid. It is used as a solvent and raw material for many important polymers in the rubber and plastics industry such as PVA, PET, etc.
